The unusual use of "her"
I have used the pronoun "her" in this song in order to give it more intimacy and directness. Do you think it gives the text a different feeling than just the impersonal word "them?"
However, I encourage you to use whatever term is most apt for your situation - or perhaps all three (her, him, them) in turn.
