Shelters in times of need
Animal shelters and homeless shelters are life-saving. But they are only temporary, and meant to be temporary!
A true shelter in the storm, and a location where you may shelter in place with no ending date... Such a "forever shelter" is the longing of our hearts, and it can only be found with God. This is being "hidden with Christ" in God.

Being "hidden with Christ" is the place where we have recognized we fall short of perfection (we are sinners), but that God has made a way for us to be His friend again - by Jesus taking our place in spiritual death (as well as physical death), paying for our sins.
When we acknowledge and ACCEPT this gift from God, we are saved. We are made new, and our old self is considered "dead," though vampire-like, our Old Man keeps trying to regain control. Colossians 3:2-3: "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."
What's the deal with blood?
Why did Jesus have to die? And why does the Bible emphasize BLOOD so much? We could look at contemporary accounts of blood sacrifice, but what does scripture say?
"The life is in the blood," said God in Leviticus 17:11.
"For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."
That is why the Bible speaks of the blood of Jesus. Animal blood was a representation, a picture of the death of Jesus to come, a stand-in until "the fulness of time" came for Jesus, God's Son.
